The collection of more than 1,500 items, which also includes the Hollywood icon’s awards, scripts, wardrobes, jewelry and artwork, will hit the auction block at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills. “Betty White was a beloved national treasure and a cross generational icon who made us laugh for eighty years with her illustrious work on film, radio and television classics,” Darren Julien, President/CEO of Julien’s Auctions, said in a statement. “We are honored to work with her Estate in this exclusive presentation of these precious artifacts and personal mementos from her storied life and career which will be offered for the first time at auction to the public, museum curators and her legions of fans worldwide.” White, known as one of America’s most trusted and beloved celebrities, died at age 99 on December 31st.

‘Simpsons’ Makes History with First Deaf Actor & Sign Language

The Simpsons is making history this weekend by featuring a deaf actor and American Sign Language in the new episode, “The Sound of Bleeding Gums.” The story will follow Lisa Simpson as she searches for the deaf son of her favorite saxophone player, the long-departed Bleeding Gums Murphy. Lisa will also help the character, who is deaf, get a cochlear implant. Deaf actor John Autry II, who appears in the episode, told Variety, “It’s life-changing equality and participation. This can impact change for all of us. It’s about hard of hearing and hearing characters coming together. It’s a part of history.” Simpsons showrunner Al Jean says it’s a just coincidence that the episode comes a few weeks after CODA won Best Picture and deaf actor Troy Kotsur won Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars. “The Sound of Bleeding Gums” was in development long before “CODA” came on the scene and won the Oscar last month, but there’s serendipity in the timing,” he said. The episode airs this Sunday on Fox.

Vanessa Hudgens Has A “Gift” of Being Able to Talk to Ghosts

During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week, Vanessa Hudgens said she’s been interacting with ghosts her whole life. “I’ve accepted the fact that I see things and I hear things,” she told Kelly. This apparently started at a young age, and ever since she’s had “a lot” of paranormal experiences. “I kind of shut it down for a while because it’s scary. The unknown is scary. But I recently was like, ‘No, this is a gift and something that I have the ability to do it, so I’m going to lean into it.’” She added that she “recently did my first real paranormal investigation with equipment,” including a “spirit box.” She explained, ”Something about the electricity it creates allows spirits to speak through it.” The actress recalled sitting at a tombstone in a graveyard with a friend at night when she sensed a presence coming through. This resulted in a conversation with a friendly spook named Sam. After introducing themselves, “Gigi goes, ‘Sam, can you tell us our names? What are our names?’ And we just hear, “Shhhh, Vanessa, shhhh.”
