The SAT Is Going Digital and Getting Shorter: ‘The Best Possible Option for Students’
The famed SAT exam taken by thousands of prospective college students each year is getting a modern makeover.
On Tuesday, the College Board announced the test will be delivered digitally starting in 2024 and will be shortened from three hours to two hours. The changes also mean students will get scores back much sooner, with a wait time of days instead of weeks.
“The digital SAT will be easier to take, easier to give, and more relevant,” Priscilla Rodriguez, vice president of College Readiness Assessments at College Board, said in a statement. “We’re not simply putting the current SAT on a digital platform — we’re taking full advantage of what delivering an assessment digitally makes possible.”
“With input from educators and students, we are adapting to ensure we continue to meet their evolving needs,” Rodriguez added.
The organization said a November trial run of the digital SAT received overwhelmingly positive feedback: 80 percent of both U.S. and international students said the test was less stressful, and 100 percent of educators said the experience was favorable.
“In a largely test-optional world, the SAT is a lower-stakes test in college admissions,” Rodriguez said. “Submitting a score is optional for every type of college, and we want the SAT to be the best possible option for students. The SAT allows every student—regardless of where they go to high school—to be seen and to access opportunities that will shape their lives and careers.”
The decision to modernize the test comes after some universities, including the University of California system, have decided to drop the test from their application requirements altogether.

Dolly Parton Is Releasing Her Own Cake Mixes With Duncan Hines
Last week, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream announced they’re bringing back the singer’s signature flavor, Strawberry Pretzel Pie. And today, Duncan Hines have announced the release of an entire line of “Dolly’s Southern Favorites.”
Arriving this March, this Dolly Parton x Duncan Hines collab includes two cake mixes and two frostings, all of which are said to be inspired by Dolly’s favorite family recipes.
The mixes are Southern Style Coconut Flavored and Southern Style Banana Flavored, both of which feature Dolly-inspired recipes on the back of the box (though Duncan Hines also says you can let your own creativity guide you if, you know, you think you’re more creative than Dolly freakin’ Parton!)
The frostings will arrive in Creamy Buttercream and Chocolate Buttercream varieties, which are described as Dolly’s favorites.
Zoo Fundraiser: Naming Cockroaches and Rats After People for Valentine’s Day
You can honor the terrible person in your life by naming a rat or cockroach after them and watching as zookeepers feed it to an animal.
In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, the San Antonio Zoo is hosting its third annual ‘Cry Me A Cockroach’ fundraiser to “support the zoo’s vision in securing a future for wildlife.,” according to their website.
Through the fundraiser, donors can choose either a cockroach, rat, or veggie, name it after a person, and watch it be fed to an animal. Donations range from $5 to $25 and you will also be sent a video of the feeding and certificate to your email.
If you are feeling extra vengeful, you can get a personalized video where a zoo employee will read a small paragraph of your writing before feeding the animal, for $150. Only 50 of these videos will be made.

‘Charlie Brown’ voice actor dies at 65
Peter Robbins, the voice actor who brought Charlie Brown to life in the Peanuts cartoons from the 1960s, has died, his family told FOX 5. He was 65.
Robbins’ family said he took his own life last week. He battled addiction to drugs through-out his life.
Get Your Own Cheese Cargo Pants With Insulated Cheese Pockets for National Cheddar Day
Around this time last year, the Oregon-based cheese brand Tillamook made headlines by selling its “Mother Loaf” cheddar cheese blocks to the public for the first time. These 40-pound cubes of cheddar used for aging are typically broken down into smaller products, but in honor of National Cheddar Day, the creamery put 25 of the unadulterated loaves up for sale at $112 a pop — and they sold out in 20 minutes.
This year for National Cheddar Day they decided to go all out. Not only are they bringing back the Mother Loaf, now at $150 each, but also launching new cheesy gear, including cheese-carrying Tillamook Party Pants.
Headlining this collection of self-proclaimed “bold, fashion-forward, limited-run swag” created by the Portland Garment Factory are the $35 “one-of-a-kind” Party Pants which “come complete with removable, insulated pockets that double as a cheddar-toting clutch or wristlet.” The cheddar-orange drawstring cargo pants — that actually look like they’d be good to work out in if they weren’t specifically designed for holding cheese — appear to provide plenty of comfort as well as three cheddar-ready pockets along the left leg.
Among the four other available items, personally, I find the Snacky Koozy to be the most inspired: with its own built-in side pocket, this $5 koozie will keep both your beer and your hunk of cheese well insulated. Sure, it may not as fashionable as the pants, but it feels a bit more practical.
