Evander Holyfield’s Son Signs on to Bengals’ Practice Squad

Evander Holyfield’s son Elijah is getting another shot in the NFL.

Elijah Holyfield is joining the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The younger Holyfield, a running back out of Georgia, hasn’t caught on in the NFL yet. The 23-year-old ran for 1,018 yards on 159 carries for the Bulldogs in 2018, splitting time with current Detroit Lions running back D’Andre Swift. Holyfield ended up going undrafted, however, in part because of an unimpressive NFL Combine. He briefly spent time on the Philadelphia Eagles’ active roster in 2020, but only made it into one game as a special teams player.

Holyfield will be behind three running backs on the active roster, including workhorse Joe Mixon. He faces a long road to snaps, but at least he’s attached to a team again.

SQUID GAME Officially Has Netflix’s ‘Biggest Series Launch Ever

The production company announced on Twitter Tuesday that the Korean show reached Netflix’s “biggest series launch ever” with 111 million viewers, surpassing Bridgerton.

Netflix, which famously releases only certain viewership metrics and data, included a fun video to go along with the announcement, with the show’s announcer thanking viewers for the support.

“I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to you all,” the announcer says in the video, over visuals from the show. “111 million of you have joined the ranks of the VIPs, making Squid Game our No. 1 show in the world.”

Netflix & Walmart Team Up to Sell SQUID GAME, STRANGER THINGS, and Other Original Series Merch

Looking for your very own “red light, green light” doll from Squid Game? While I can’t tell you you won’t get a few nervous eye raises from all your future visitors, I can tell you that you might just be in luck. According to The Wall Street Journal, Netflix is teaming up with Walmart to create a digital storefront on the retailer’s website that sells various merchandise from hit Netflix original series, such as Squid Game and Stranger Things.

While several stores already carry merchandise from Netflix shows (and Netflix even has an online store of its own,, this deal marks the first time that Netflix has created an official storefront with a national retailer. TWJ said the partnership is “part of Netflix’s broader strategy to develop new revenue streams beyond its core subscription business and market its content away from its own platform.” Josh Simon, Netflix vice president of consumer products, all but confirmed this reasoning, saying this is part of the company’s goal to “meet fans wherever they are.”

“We want to continue to meet fans wherever they are, whether that’s through our biggest online marketplace at Walmart, or the more boutique and curated [..] The real value is in reinforcing fan love for the shows and films they see on Netflix.”

Some of the Netflix Original items confirmed to be coming to the storefront include Squid Game shirts, Nailed It! baking kits, and a Stranger Things Bluetooth cassette player.

Space Flight For William Shatner Happens Today

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson says William Shatner’s space flight today won’t take a toll on his body, despite being 90 years old. He says the ride shouldn’t be any more taxing than a rollercoaster.  Jeff Bezos’ private spaceflight company Blue Origin will launch its second crewed space mission with William Shatner on Wednesday (Oct. 13).

After a 24-hour delay due to high winds at Blue Origin’s launch site near Van Horn, Texas, the New Shepard rocket is now scheduled to lift off at 10 a.m. EDT (9 a.m. local time; 1400 GMT), Blue Origin announced on Tuesday (Oct. 12).
