Tony Works

Tony, “In and Around the House” host and gardening expert, is a Northern Kentucky native who grew up in the gardening business. His father, Jack, is the owner of the Jackson Florist and Garden Center in Covington.

After graduating from Northern Kentucky University and working briefly in the private sector, Tony soon found himself back at his father’s garden center, falling in love with the industry all over again. “The gardening community is really special because of the people,” says Tony. “The Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area has so many great locally owned and operated garden centers, and they’re run by genuine people who really go above and beyond to help their customers. It really is a special fraternity to be a part of.”

Tony’s favorite part of working in the industry is helping people solve their gardening issues and teaching them how to build a better garden. “You get a lot of satisfaction from helping people achieve success growing their flower beds and their vegetable and herb gardens, choosing the right trees and shrubs and helping them get their lawns looking great. That’s why I am really excited to do the show. I can talk to a massive listening audience and help them get their yard where they want it to be.”

When he’s not in the garden, Tony’s usually attending a Reds game with his wife, Tina, on the golf course attempting to lower his handicap or brewing his own beer at home.

Ernie Brown

Even from a young age, Ernie Brown’s always been a handyman, a trait Ernie says his father passed down to all seven children in his Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky family. Rather than paying someone else to do a job, Ernie learned from his dad that it’s often less expensive and more rewarding to do it yourself.

Ernie’s can-do attitude and improvisation skills – what he calls “field modification” – make him the perfect counterpart for Tony Works’ In and Around the House radio show. Of course, his more than 35 years in the radio business doesn’t hurt either. Currently, Ernie is the “Fatman,” from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 97.3 The Wolf.

Besides radio, Ernie has a passion for motorcycles and is a member of McMillan Masonic Lodge # 141, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Shrine, an honorary member of the Crescent Springs Villa Hills Fire Department and the president of Villa Hill Civic Club.

Ernie and Tony are both excited to be bringing you tips and ideas for your home improvement projects every Saturday morning and hope to tackle a few projects together soon, so keep tuning in!
