Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Has Been Officially Retired
The tech giant Microsoft has “retired” its Internet Explorer web browser as of yesterday. The blue and white “e,”, will be disappearing from computers around the world, and the internet.
Launched in 1995, it was the dominant browser for many years during the days of dial-up internet.
In its place will be Microsoft Edge, a browser launched in 2015, “Microsoft Edge has Internet Explorer mode (‘IE mode’) built in, so you can Still live like it’s 1999.
Microsoft said in a memo last year the company will continue to support some forms of Explorer.
the shift will have real-life consequences in some country’s, mostly in Asia, which still widely rely on Internet Explorer for administrative affairs.
In Japan, businesses have warned that the change could cause headaches “for months”
from government agencies to financial institutions. a poll found 49 percent of Japanese companies surveyed last month said they were still using Internet Explorer.
