Zoe Saldana: Porn makes sex bad

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana says people need to be “uninhibited” if they want a good sex life.

The 36-year-old actress got married to Italian artist Marco Perego last year and they are currently expecting their first child together.

Zoe has become more at ease as she’s got older, which has helped her in all areas of her life. She believes this is why she’s finally found happiness with Marco.

“At 35, you make better choices in men or partners, divorce people and situations that are not right for you, and learn to say ‘no’ with a smile,” she told Cosmopolitan For Latinas magazine.

“[The most essential quality for a good sex life is] to be uninhibited. I’m not talking about bringing in a third person or watching porn all night: that’s what leads people to believe they are amazing in bed when they’re the worst ever. Pornography is not sex education – it’s the opposite! Don’t allow insecurities to close you off. Be creative.”

Zoe split from Keith Britton in 2011 after 11 years together and went on to enjoy an on/off romance with Bradley Cooper before getting together with Marco. Throughout her life there has been one thing she looks for in a partner – fire. The actress has no interest in being with a yes man, something she believes stems from her Latina background.

“It’s one of the biggest factors about me: the fire, the passion, the ‘in your face’ quality. I’m not going to say, ‘Whatever you want, whatever you say.’ I’ll say, ‘You know what I think? I feel this,’” she explained.

“I don’t want a man who worships me: stay away from those. Worshipping doesn’t count as really seeing me. I like men who work with women, are challenged by women, learn from women.”

The interview was conducted before Zoe confirmed her pregnancy, but that didn’t stop her discussing becoming a mom. When she and Marco welcome their bundle of joy they have set ideas about how he or she will be raised.

“Of course [our children] will speak the languages that we speak; my sisters and I grew up learning French and speaking English and Spanish, and because of that, we’re able to understand Italian and Portuguese,” she said. “But I’m going to have to make a conscious effort to speak Spanish to my children, because I speak Spanglish.”
