Catherine Zeta-Jones is Michael Douglas’ “ocean”.
This week there have been conflicting reports that the Welsh actress has agreed to let Michael return to their New York family home following a trial separation over the summer. It seems the actor is determined to win Catherine back and is thrilled she is open to giving their marriage a chance.
“They’ve been speaking for the past few weeks because both of them want to make things absolutely right with the kids… She is his ocean,” a source told British magazine Grazia. “He believes they can make it work, he wants her to know how much she is worth to him.”
Catherine and Michael raise two children together, 13-year-old Dylan and Carys, ten.
The pair have both battled health issues, with Michael diagnosed with throat cancer in 2010 and Catherine receiving treatment for her bipolar II disorder.
Insiders claim the 44-year-old beauty needed some time out to reflect on where she was headed.
“Catherine has had so many demons to battle regarding their partnership, her relationship with herself and – most importantly – her establishment of boundaries for both of them. She had to press the stop button on her marriage and her whole life so she could just make sense of where she – and Michael – were going,” the source added.
“There has been no recovery for Catherine, no space between those extreme events. When she came out of the clinic earlier this year, she felt she could no longer be the one who dealt with everything. She needed Michael to know she had to be valued, respected and absolutely loved.”
