Catherine Zeta-Jones’ “issues” could have contributed to her split from Michael Douglas.
The Welsh actress is said to have been so upset by her husband’s claim that oral sex gave him HPV that it eventually left their marriage of 13 years on the rocks.
However a source claims 68-year-old Michael is still besotted with his wife, who has not been pictured with him since April 22.
“It’s very stressful. He loves her but she has her own issues,” an insider told British newspaper the Daily Mirror.
Catherine, 43, had treatment for bipolar II disorder earlier this year after entering a clinic for the condition in 2011.
Michael was cleared of throat cancer that same year and the actress allegedly didn’t cope well with his illness.
“I haven’t had to deal with anything like that before,” she previously said in an interview. “I wasn’t as strong as I thought I could have been.”
People magazine reported that Catherine was worried her partner’s disease would come back, however a friend insisted, “Michael and Catherine love each other very much”.
The duo, who share 13-year-old son Dylan and 10-year-old daughter Carys began dating in 1998 and were married in 2000.
Michael has a son named Cameron who is 34 years old and behind bars for dealing cocaine.
Rumors are rife that he may have also caused tension in the relationship.
“Cameron has become a big divide,” a friend of the couple told RadarOnline.”He is in solitary ¬confinement and hasn’t seen his father in an eternity.
“Michael is beside himself. It consumes him.”
