Britain’s Zara Phillips has given birth to a girl.
The royal and her rugby player husband Mike Tindall confirmed they were expecting a baby in July.
Buckingham Palace today confirmed the royal gave birth to a girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Mike was with Zara when their daughter entered the world and the tot weighs 7lbs. 12oz.
At the moment no further information has been revealed as the baby’s name will be confirmed at a later date.
“The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Phillip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news,” added the Queen’s Press Secretary in a statement.
British Prime Minister David Cameron was among the first to offer Zara and Mike congratulations.
“The Prime Minister sends his ‘many congratulations’ to the Tindalls and the Queen on the birth of the newest Royal; Official Spokesman,” ITV News political correspondent Carl Dinnen tweeted.
The new arrival is the Princess Royal’s third grandchild and Queen Elizabeth II’s fourth great-grandchild. She is 16th in line to the throne.
Zara, 32, and 35-year-old Mike married at Canongate Kirk in Scotland in July 2011.
