Wynn: Clooney lives in a bubble

George Clooney is “money coddled”, according to hotelier Steve Wynn.

The actor reportedly got into an argument with the Las Vegas hotel owner during a recent dinner in the city, in which George apparently stormed out and called Steve an “a**hole” after the businessman insulted US President Barack Obama.

Steve addressed the argument in a video interview with Bloomberg TV on Friday.

He denied insulting the president and defended his position, lamenting that celebrities “live in a very strange bubble of their own”.

“They’re money coddled, they’re highly privileged. We are talking about successful artists like George, Barbra Streisand… they live in a relatively small world, the people around them are very solicitous and caring of them,” Steve said.

“They have a worldview that is therefore ‘Everything should be given to everybody’ because everything has been given to them.”

Steve’s net worth was estimated at $3.8 billion this month by Forbes magazine. And the Wynn Resorts CEO appeared to suggest George simply doesn’t share his understanding of business.

“You have to protect the enterprise in order to take care of the employees. So therefore, you can’t be wasteful, you can’t squander things or you jeopardize people,” he said.

“Running a business gives you a sense of compassion that is defined in different terms than someone who just thinks of themselves as generous.”

George addressed the argument last week, which occurred at Steve’s Wynn Encore hotel. The Wrap reports actor said he felt insulted by the Vegas mogul and admitted to storming off.

“I said that the president was my longtime friend and then he said, ‘your friend is an a**hole’… At that point I told Steve that he was an asshole and that I wasn’t going to sit at his table while he was being such a jacka**. And I walked out,” he said.

“There were obviously quite a few more adjectives and adverbs used by both of us as I left. Those are all the facts. It had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with character.”

Steve meanwhile tells a different version of events. And he blamed George’s imbibing at the event, attended by his Casamigos Tequila business partners, on the actor’s memory.

“George Clooney is fun to be with… you just have to watch your timing. And I didn’t call the President an a**hole. And George did not call me an a**hole,” Steve said.

“He was a little in to the Tequila but he is fun to be with. He is a good story teller.”
