Olivia Wilde doesn’t feel pressure to have children.
The American actress is currently engaged to Jason Sudeikis after meeting on Saturday Night Live in 2011.
Writing an article in British magazine Glamour about the do’s and don’ts of turning 30 Olivia, who hits the landmark birthday next March, urges females to take every day as it comes and not rush into starting a family because of social anxiety.
“Don’t feel pressured to pop out kids. I love kids with a passion I usually reserve for hot cheese, miniature chairs and Prince concerts, but I feel no stress to reproduce simply because of a fear of withering eggs,” she advises. “Wait for the right partner, and make sure you’re where you want to be in life before picking your home based on school districts. This is not to suggest you should live irresponsibly for the next ten years, then expect to get knocked up.”
Olivia also gives advice about love. Having gone through a divorce with Italian filmmaker and musician Tao Ruspoli two years ago, the star insists there is always room for romance even after failed relationships.
“Don’t propose to the next guy you meet because you worry he’ll be your last chance at lifelong championship,” Olivia urged. “Sure, you’ve attended more bachelorette parties than yoga classes in the past year, but that doesn’t mean that you’re destined to become a craggy spinster, searching for roommates of Craigslist at 50. The danger with ‘husband hunting’ is you start to see every date as a job interview.”
There are plenty of things the 29-year-old star does recommend women take into account. She believes females should take up a new hobby and look at the landmark 30th birthday as an excuse to try new things.
“Do learn a new skill. Why not look at your 30th as a rebirth?” she mused. “I started stand-up paddle-boarding at 29 and consider it my baby steps towards becoming a bad-ass thirtysomething semi-pro surf goddess.”
