Weight A Minute: Workouts

I’ve been asked a lot about my workouts, so hopefully this answers some questions!

I lost the majority of my weight just doing cardio. Lots of walking and that turned into running. And honestly, that’s still my favorite way to workout. I love to walk and hike. And I really think that’s the trick, is finding something you don’t hate doing.

My walking turned to running after doing Couch to 5k. There are several apps and podcasts to choose from, my personal favorite was Chubby Jones. Watch out, there’s NSFW language!

For over a year though, I’ve been going to a gym that I personally love. The workouts change every day and you get personal attention…which is what I want. I need someone to tell me what to do…but that just works out best for me. Jesse goes with me too….here’s a look at one of our workouts…

Big thanks to Tes & Cris at FITNEXT! I go here an hour a day 5-6 days a week. Which, I’ll admit, is a little hardcore. But this is where I am 5 1/2 years after I started. So, it’s not like I went from 0-100 overnight.

Now I do strength training 3 days a week, and cardio/core 3 days a week. I’ve done stuff like the Beachbody workouts at home and there’s a ton of free workout videos online. So, it’s not like you HAVE to go to a crazy gym to get a good workout…but it’s what I found works best for me. Everyone gets motivated by different things.

I used to avoid exercising at all costs. I even took extra band classes all 4 years of high school to get out of gym, so I definitely wasn’t born ready to get my work out on. I actually remember when my husband and I started dating we were out together and there was a set of stairs that went up to a cool view of a lake…and I wouldn’t go up them. I just didn’t want to get winded going up stairs. Now I’ve summited mountains. Literally. So yeah, things can change!

Losing weight and doing a lifestyle change takes time. Which is super hard for an impatient person like me! But, it’s worth it. Just take one day at a time. You’ll get there! We got this! #IAmStrongerThanAnybodyKnows
