Vin Diesel has thanked fans who attended Paul Walker’s memorial.
The 40-year-old actor lost his life on Saturday when the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT he was a passenger in hit a utility pole and burst into flames in Santa Clarita, California.
Yesterday a private memorial was held in honor of the Fast & Furious star and many fans kept vigil at the crash site, where Vin addressed them in an impromptu speech.
“I just want to say to all of you, if my brother were here right now and he saw all of the love you are bringing here,” Paul’s friend and co-star said.
“If he could see for himself that all of you have shown up to show my brother love… at this hard time his family gets to see all of you show the love that you’ve shown Paul. It’s going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him.”
Paul played one of the lead characters, Brian O’Conner, in the Fast & Furious franchise and was working on the seventh installment prior to the accident.
Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty Ortiz in the action movies, has also paid tribute to her co-star on Twitter.
“I’m gonna carry this torch for you brother, with a forced smile on my face and Im gonna open my heart just cause your telling me to. (sic)” she posted.
Fans have been gathering by the site of the crash since Saturday, but were ushered away yesterday to allow for the private family memorial.
