Timberlake leads EMA noms

Justin Timberlake

Justin Timberlake leads the MTV EMA nominations this year.

The singer has scooped five nods for 2013, including for best male, best live, best video for track Mirrors, best look and best US act.

Newcomers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are hot on Justin’s heels and are also in the running for five awards.

They could be going home with accolades in the categories of best new, best song for Thrift Shop, best hip-hop and best world stage.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are also nominated in the best US act category, which means they will be battling it out with Justin for the title.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke are all up for four awards.

Gaga and Miley will be fighting for best female, with Katy Perry, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift also in the competition.

Miley, 20, could also find herself crowned for best video thanks to her raunchy Wrecking Ball promo, which sees her completely naked and suggestively licking a hammer.

Gaga is also nominated for her Applause video, along with Robin for his nudity-laden Blurred Lines clip.

Justin will go head to head with One Direction for the best pop award, which could also go to Katy, Miley or Harry Styles’ ex Taylor.

Bruno Mars makes an appearance in the best song category for Locked Out of Heaven, as does Rihanna with Diamonds.

Fighting Justin for the best look crown will be One Direction’s Harry, Gaga, Rihanna and UK star Rita Ora.

The Europe Music Awards will take place in Amsterdam and be shown on MTV on Sunday November 10.
