Justin Timberlake will never be a “slave” to his success.
Triumphing where many stars have failed, the 32-year-old has managed to straddle careers in both music and film.
He’s currently promoting his album The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 and flick Runner Runner, but Justin vows never to become too fixated on staying in the public eye.
“By balancing it with real life,” he answered German Cosmopolitan magazine when asked how he copes with fame.
“I spend a lot of time with my family. Many stars end up becoming slaves to their success. They think that now they’ve reached the top, they have to stay there. They fight like crazy for it and forget to enjoy life. I won’t succumb to that pressure.”
Justin rose to fame alongside Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears on The Mickey Mouse Club.
While many stars who grew up in the spotlight have suffered breakdowns, the handsome actor-and-singer has managed to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
“That never happened to me because I only ever did things I wanted to,” he explained.
“The most important question you have to ask yourself in life is, ‘Why am I doing this?’ If the answer is, ‘Because other people expect me to’ or ‘Because that’s what my schedule tells me,’ then you have a problem. If the answer is, ‘Because I want to,’ then it’s all good.”
Justin married Jessica Biel in 2012 and with her career as an actress, they’re an extremely high-profile couple.
However, down-to-earth Justin never feels tempted to see what people are writing about them.
“No, that’s much too dangerous!” he exclaimed when asked if he googles himself.
“People can be horrible, especially those who let everything out on the internet. [Laughs] They’re all pigs!”
