Terrence Howard’s ex-wife has accused him of “beating her badly”.
The 44-year-old Iron Man actor officially divorced from Michelle Ghent in May and the proceedings were contentious throughout.
In divorce court documents obtained by TMZ, Michelle alleged that Terrence began assaulting her just seven days after they tied the knot in January 2010.
She alleges he threatened to throw her off a balcony, punched her in the face, was “smacking her in the face and chipping her tooth with his wedding ring” and “throwing her down to the ground in a parking lot.”
The website now reports that she is making fresh allegations against him after an ill-fated vacation in Costa Rica.
Apparently she took a trip with Terrence and his family to the Central American country last week and he “beat her up” in the middle of a “heated argument”.
Howard is reportedly claiming that the altercation ensued after “Michelle maced him, his adult daughter and another family member”.
Police arrived at the scene and they took reports on the incident.
Opinions on what actually happened are varied, as witnesses support both parties’ stories.
“Sources say Terrence made up the mace story to cover his brutality,” TMZ reports. “Other sources connected to Terrence say Michelle is lying about the actor physically abusing her.”
Michelle filed for divorce from Terrence in February 2011 and she was issued a temporary restraining order against him in December of that year.
Terrence countered with his own court documents denying that he ever threatened Michelle.
He claimed at the time that Michelle threatened to “release private materials to third parties for her own personal financial gain unless he gave her money.”
