Vince Vaughn is “tired” of being a comedy actor.
The 43-year-old star is known for his parts in humorous movies such as Wedding Crashers and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.
His latest film Delivery Man sees Vince take on a more serious role as a man who finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic.
He hopes this part will enable people to see him in a different light compared to the cliché projects he has previously worked on.
“When I started I never thought I would make any money. Growing up in Illinois, I didn’t know any actors so I moved to LA, aged 18, because I thought that’s where they make the movies… A lot of the smaller movies I did when I was younger, like Return To Paradise, were dramas. Then I had agents that represented a lot of comic people, so that was kind of the stuff that presented itself. I am tired of doing some of the comedy stuff. It is nice to do something different,” he admitted to British newspaper Metro.
“I had been offered a lot of romantic comedies and I was thinking: ‘Why do they have to end up with the person?’ Sometimes in life you can be with someone you learn from but you are not meant to end up with.”
Vince himself has three-year-old daughter Locklyn and son Vernon, who has born in August 2013, with wife Kyla Weber.
He loves playing with his little ones and admits since becoming a family man his health has improved a great deal.
“I quit smoking, my wife had a baby and I had an injury, so I put some weight on. But then I got to a place where I was just ready to be disciplined,” he recalled.
“I was vegan for a little while and took up running. I try to avoid dairy but I still have the occasional piece of pizza… I really love spending time with [my family]. I was older when I decided to have kids, so I was really ready to enjoy it. It is exciting.”
