Joan Collins’ sister once surprised her with a birthday trip to Paris.
The British actress, 80, is the older sister of 76-year-old novelist Jackie.
They have a strong sisterly bond and like to go big for one another’s birthdays.
“I love France,” Jackie gushed to the British edition of OK! magazine.
“I surprised my sister Joan on her birthday and flew her over to Paris. My favorite place in the world is the flea market – it’s a magical place.”
The writer has been married twice before, but has been single since her second husband, Oscar Lerman, passed away in 1992.
Jackie has three children, Tracy, Tiffany and Rory, and is big on surprising her whole family with impromptu vacations.
“I went to the Bahamas and stayed at the One&Only Ocean Club,” she said of her last holiday.
“I took my entire family, so there were 12 of us – it was amazing. It was Christmas and we sat outside with a fabulous table set up and had turkey and stuffing by the ocean. To me, a vacation is having a fabulous room with a terrace so that I can sit outside, watch everybody and write – then I meet them all for breakfast, lunch and dinner.”
Jackie and Joan both travel a great deal due to their exciting jobs.
The bestselling author has slowly adapted to her nomadic lifestyle and finds ways to make herself comfortable anywhere in the world.
“I’ll take scented candles, books and maybe a faux fur blanket, then it’s always very homely,” she smiled.
“The first thing I do when I get to a hotel is get rid of the cushions and the bedspread and I ask housekeeping not to put them on again.”
