Jamie Lee Curtis reportedly called emergency officials as her friend suffered an apparent overdose.
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ paramedics responded to the scene in Venice, California at approximately 9:00 pm Tuesday night after the actress made a “frantic” 911 call.
Jamie’s friend was reportedly found passed out in the backseat of her vehicle.
Sources say the woman, who has not been named, suffered a “violent reaction” to a mix of alcohol and a prescription drug.
Jamie was apparently rushing her friend to the hospital when the incident occurred, but she phoned emergency officials during the drive when she saw her condition worsen.
The woman was reportedly treated at a local hospital and has since been released.
A spokesperson for the actress has not commented on the claims.
News of the alleged incident comes just days after Jamie signed on to star in a new pilot for a medical drama.
According to Variety, Jamie will play the “dynamic and distinguished physician and mother of now-adult quadruplets who grew up on a reality show”.
Brothers & Sisters producer David Marshall Grant is behind the project, which does not yet have a name.
Jamie currently plays Zooey Deschanel’s mother on hit comedy New Girl and last year appeared in two episodes of American crime drama NCIS.
