Tim Burton once made a mini hot water bottle for Helena Bonham Carter’s nose.
The director is renowned for helming quirky fantasy films such as Beetlejuice, Alice in Wonderland and Corpse Bride. It seems Tim’s creative thinking carries on at home and he gave his long-term partner Helena a special gift to keep her warm.
“If my hot water bottle is counted as a garment, it would be that,” she told British magazine Stylist when asked what she can’t live without. “Tim Burton once designed a mini portable one for the tip of my nose. Otherwise, my FitFlop sheep-lined slipper boots.”
The 47-year-old actress is also thoughtful when it comes to other people. Asked what she would do if she could be a fairy godmother for a day, Helena listed music and quality time for families as wishes she would grant.
“It’s a very long list, but how about love, food and warmth for those who don’t have it all around?” she replied. “I would also put a small jazz-band piano in public places for spontaneous sing-alongs and dancing. And create a day of no technology for adults as well as children.”
Helena was then quizzed on books she loved reading as a child. The British star revealed Hollywood could learn a lot from her favorite tale.
“The Velveteen Rabbit,” she answered. “There’s a passage when the rabbit asks the horse if love hurts. The horse explains that the more a child loves you, the bits [like eyes and ears] will fall off but it doesn’t matter because you are truly loved. I wish we saw the ageing process in humans in the same way.”
