Kerry Washington’s TV series Scandal has been reduced.
The 36-year-old actress won an Emmy for her role as political fixer Olivia Pope in the hit drama.
ABC network has now confirmed to E! News the program will only film 18 of the originally planned 22 episodes this season, fueling rumors the actress in pregnant.
Kerry has not yet confirmed if she’s expecting her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, although the outlet reports she’s due to give birth next spring.
This estimated time of delivery directly conflicts with the production schedule of Scandal.
“While the net gave no reason for the reduced order, Kerry is reportedly due in the spring, so since filming the final four episodes while she’s ready to pop probably wasn’t an option, the network either had to eliminate those episodes or write Olivia out of the show,” the website writes.
Screenwriters purportedly have no interest in creating a pregnancy storyline for the actress’ popular persona, and due to this producers supposedly decided to axe a few episodes.
Kerry wed football star Nnamdi in June, with the pair getting together in the summer of 2012.
The marriage came as a surprise to many and Kerry recently admitted she doesn’t like to disclose details of her private life.
“I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me to talk about my personal life,” she told Glamour magazine.
“I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. I was on the cover of a bridal magazine [InStyle Weddings, in 2005, when Washington was engaged to actor David Moscow]. But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘OK, no more.’”
