Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson says Paul Walker was a wonderful family man.
The actor is remembering his friend and co-star, who tragically died in a car accident on Saturday.
According to Dwayne, Paul was a down-to earth man who put his family first and looked out for his loved ones.
“That was one of the interesting things about Paul: his reservations about being in the spotlight and being a star, whatever the definition of that may be,” Dwayne told Entertainment Weekly.
“He was motivated by work that allowed him to take care of his family, number one, and that also allowed him the power and the leverage to help people in need and in crisis.”
The action star goes on to explain that he and Paul first met when they were twenty-somethings. As they became friends, a huge similarity between the two was their dedication to their children.
“It was always the number one topic we would talk about. We would talk about silly guy things, his fast cars and my pickup trucks, or we would talk about the beautiful energy of Hawaii — but it always ultimately came back to family,” Dwayne revealed.
The former wrestler says Paul was a wonderful, loving father, who took joy in being a parent. According to Dwayne, when he found out about Paul passing away his heart went out to daughter Meadow.
“Very specifically the beautiful and important bond between a father and his daughter, and how we both realized that over the years,” he said. “Not surprisingly, when I got the news that he had passed away, the first words out of my mouth were, ‘He has a daughter.’ It’s very sad. We can’t help but to hope that their final time together was beautiful and strong and an amazing memory.”
