Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively returned to the South for their one-year anniversary.
The couple married at Boone Hall, Mount Pleasant, on September 9 last year and spent the weekend in Charleston, South Carolina before traveling to Savannah, Georgia, yesterday.
On Monday they had lunch at a restaurant called Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, and lined up outside with the locals.
“They were absolutely darling,” owner Marcia Thompson told People magazine.
“I asked them what they were doing in Savannah, and she said it was their anniversary and they had never been able to get in the restaurant before. The line wasn’t too terribly long today.”
Ryan, 36, and Blake, 26, were seated with six others at a table for the family-style meal. Dishes included fried chicken, cabbage, butter beans, meatloaf and macaroni and cheese.
“Nobody made a fuss over them,” Thompson says. “I know the other people sitting at the table knew who they were, but they didn’t say anything to them about who they were and that was nice. I thanked [the other diners] for that.”
The bill for lunch came up to $36, which Ryan paid for in cash including a very generous tip.
Their fellow diners may have respected their privacy but Thompson was overwhelmed with Ryan’s good looks.
“When he stood up and put that smile on me, I nearly fainted. He is so good-looking,” Thompson said, adding that Blake “was so sweet and so pretty. I am honored that they came here on their anniversary. I hope they enjoyed it.”
