Stars unite against gun violence

Kevin Jonas offered prayers to victims of a mall shooting in his native New Jersey Monday.

The former Jonas Brothers singer took to Twitter minutes after news broke of gunfire at Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, about 20 miles southwest of Manhattan.

Kevin, who grew up with brothers Nick and Joe just 12 miles away in Wycoff, noted that his thoughts were with those affected while SWAT teams responded to the scene.

“Hope everyone in Garden State Mall is safe thoughts and prayers are with you,” he tweeted.

Debra Messing also took to the social network. The actress, raised in Rhode Island, confessed she is disturbed by a recent spate of gun violence in the US.

“Praying for everyone in the mall in Paramus…This is a devastating epidemic # gunshootings,” she wrote.

Snooki also chimed in. The former Jersey Shore star said she was “sickened” by the news.

“Praying for everyone at gsp this is sickening , when will this stop?!” she asked.

Reports of an “active shooter” at the Plaza first broke at approximately 9:30pm Eastern Time, according to ABC News.

No injuries were reported at press time. It is unclear how many people were in the mall during the incident.

The Associated Press reports authorities have not made contact with a shooter.
