Snooki ‘suing perfumer’

Snooki has reportedly filed suit against a rival perfume company.

The former Jersey Shore star debuted her first fragrance in 2011 and accuses Excell Brands of ripping off the product with its Snazzy scent, according to TMZ.

The website reports the 25-year-old, real name Nicole Polizzi, accuses the firm of “shamelessly” committing trademark infringement.

Legal filings obtained by the outlet argue the Snazzy packaging shows striking similarities to the reality star’s perfume, even calling itself “our version of Snooki by Nicole Polizzi”.

Snooki is reportedly seeking $6.5 million in damages and is asking the court to immediately block the sale of the rival perfume.

A spokesperson for Excell has not commented on the case.

It’s not the first time Snooki has been tangled in legal action.

The television star was countersued for $7 million in 2011 by a licensing company she claimed failed to follow through on merchandising deals, accusing executives at the firm of fraud and breach of contract.

SRG Ventures responded with claims Snooki “sabotaged her branding opportunities by negotiating with other companies behind its back”, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A representative for the star denied the allegations at the time, telling The Huffington Post: “SRG’s attempt to take advantage of Ms. Polizzi will not be tolerated.”
