Sarah Jessica Parker doubts aliens “wear funny outfit and say snarky things” if they exist.
The 48-year-old actress voices Kira Supernova in new animation Escape from Planet Earth, about an extraterrestrial who gets into problems when he visits Earth.
Asked if she believes in aliens Sarah gave a resounding no, although pressed on the topic she hinted it’s the way they are portrayed in film she dislikes.
“Well, I don’t think we’re alone in the universe. But I don’t think aliens are how we have experienced them thus far on screen. We discovered that there may have been water elsewhere, and that was a massive and important discovery in the world of science, right? This suggests that something benefited from the water,” she told British newspaper The Guardian. “But whether they wear funny outfits and they’re clever and they say snarky things to each other and have wonderfully big sweet eyes? That, I’m dubious about. But I do enjoy the storytelling here on Earth.”
Sarah remains best known for portraying fashionista Carrie Bradshaw in US TV show Sex and the City. The program transferred to the big screen for two movies, with Sarah previously saying she’d be open to shooting another installment.
Playing such a fan favorite on screen means the star is constantly quizzed about Carrie, something she’s got used to over the years.
“I’m fine with it. It’s all right. It’s hardly a burden,” she insisted. “I would rather be asked about that than countless other things. That was an enormously important, wonderful part of my life and to suggest that it’s burdensome in some way for people to enquire about a third movie? To be resentful or annoyed about that would be such a waste of someone’s time. I’m very fine with it. I’m OK.”
Earlier this year, Michael Patrick King discussed the possibility of another film. He executive produced the series and wrote and directed both movies and insisted he already has an idea for a script.
“Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet,” he said.
Sex and the City also starred Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrall. Cynthia has already gone on record to insist two movies is enough and the franchise should now be left alone.
