Sheeran: I’m no sex symbol

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran thinks women want to mother him, not sleep with him.

The ginger-haired singer has been linked to Taylor Swift in the past, although he has insisted they are just friends. The 22-year-old finds the concept of being a sex symbol hilarious and insists it’s rare for women to come on to him.

“If you speak to most women, they want to take me home and mother me rather than take me to bed,” he told People. “I just have that impression.”

On occasion, he does get approached by lust-filled fans and it’s not something he can imagine ever getting used to. The star doubts many of his admirers would be so interested if he wasn’t in the limelight.

“I find the whole concept of women screaming at me so odd,” he said.

“It’s very flattering, but I don’t think I will ever consider myself to be a sex symbol.”

Recently, Ed was linked to British singer Ellie Goulding. The pair were spotted holding hands, sparking instant romance rumors, but they too are nothing more than close pals.

When it comes to finding the perfect woman, Ed has a wish list which needs to be met.

“Someone who likes to laugh,” he said. “And I really like chocolate. Someone who gives me chocolate.”

In July, Ed was forced to deny rumors he had made a marriage pact with Taylor. It was claimed they had agreed to wed if they hadn’t met a significant other by the time they turned 30, but the red-haired musician made light of the claims.

“That story isn’t true. I do have one of those pacts with a friend actually — my next door neighbor – but it’s [for when we're] 40,” he revealed.

“We got the pact from Friends. We watched Friends and we were like, ‘Oh that sounds like a good idea,’ but I don’t really want to reproduce with you right now.”
