Scherzinger stumped on red carpet

Nicole Scherzinger was left red-faced on the Pride of Britain Awards red carpet.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer was put on the spot by a reporter at Monday night’s ceremony when asked a question about Malala Yousafzai.

The teenager was shot in the head and neck by the Taliban last year after speaking out against terrorism, but she miraculously survived and has since become an activist for women’s education.

When asked what she thought of brave Malala’s story, Nicole stumbled: “I don’t know the story that well, but is she still…?”

The moment was especially awkward as Malala was honored that same night with the Teenager of Courage Award, presented by David Beckham via video.

After the reporter explained the young girl’s story, Nicole applauded her bravery.

“Amazing, she’s a righteous, empowering, powerful woman and God bless her,” the pop star said.

Before the stumble, Nicole also acknowledged the importance of celebrating heroic acts like Malala’s.

“It’s the regular ordinary people who are the real heroes. And tonight we get to finally recognise them, the real courageous ones who’ve gone through so much adversity – they’re just real survivors and they inspire all of us,” she said.

It was Nicole’s second time at the annual event. And the 35-year-old admits she remains in awe of the courageous men and women honored at Pride of Britain.

“I’m very humbled when I come, last year was my first year here and I was extremely humbled and I was like, ‘Who am I?’” she questioned.

“These people have gone through so much, such amazing stories they’re so beautiful, I want to hug everybody.”
