Adam Sandler has undergone surgery for a shoulder injury.
The 47-year-old actor endured the operation after being injured in back in May.
He is now recovering after rectifying the sports-related damage and has been suffering for quite some time now.
“The surgery was a long time coming for Adam,” an insider told Radar Online. “He had a chronic shoulder injury that he needed to have surgery for, so he did. He’s now on the mend.”
The screen star’s representative Cindy Guagenti confirmed his hospital visit and shared that it had long been an appointment in his diary.
“It was scheduled surgery for an injury he had a while ago playing basketball,” she admitted to the website.
Adam starred as Lenny Feder in comedy movie Grown Ups 2 this year with the likes of Taylor Lautner and Salma Hayek.
It is unknown how much time he will need to take off work following his surgery but first reported his painful accident a few months ago during a promotional tour.
“I ripped my labrum, do you know where your labrum is? It’s in the shoulder,” he told the talk show host.
His next flick The Familymoon is currently filming and due out in 2014.
