Robin Wright avoids reading news where she is described as a ‘cougar’.
The 47-year-old actress has been given the label after becoming engaged to 33-year-old Ben Foster earlier this month.
But Robin revealed she deliberately makes a point of ignoring anything describing her as a ‘cougar’.
“You know, I deliberately don’t read anything about myself for that reason,” she told Details magazine.
Robin and Ben began dating in February 2012 nearly two years after her divorce was finalized with actor Sean Penn.
Robin and Sean were married in 1996 after having two children, daughter Dylan in 1991 and son Hopper in 1993.
Their relationship became on again/off again during the late 2000’s before they finally divorced in July 2010.
Robin is clearly happy and content in her new relationship, and it’s an added bonus that her working life is also going well.
She is currently receiving high praise for her role as Claire Underwood in the TV series House of Cards and it’s a character Robin likes playing.
“I liked the way [executive producer] David Fincher described her to me: strong, calculating, Machiavellian,” she explained. “He said, ‘You have to contain all of those adjectives in a marble bust.’ If Claire’s moving or flailing, she loses her foundation. It’s like martial arts—you have to keep your centre solid or you’ll be knocked over.”
She added, “There’s a cadence to her speech—soothing but foreboding—that reminds me of a metronome. The clock is ticking, time is wasting, and if you don’t do what Claire wants, you’re gone.”
