LeAnn Rimes’ new album sets straight a “skewed and opposite” version of her life.
The 31-year-old singer recently completed work on her 11th studio album, Spitfire, and believes it finally sets straight some of the tabloid gossip swirling about personal life.
“I think everyone’s really written my life for me in the last five years – so skewed and so opposite of the situation. Or they think they know my intentions, so they write those for me,” she explained to Entertainment Tonight.
LeAnn has been the subject of unflattering media reports for years in the wake of her affair with actor Eddie Cibrian. The pair were married when they met on the set of 2009 TV movie Northern Lights and Eddie’s ex, reality TV star Brandi Glanville, has bashed them for cheating.
LeAnn, who married Eddie in 2011, reveals working on Spitfire was a cathartic experience and she hopes listeners will finally hear her out.
“This album was actually something where I felt like I had a voice in my own life again and I was able to tell my truth, not anybody else’s skewed version of it.”
LeAnn took the stage last Tuesday to showcase some of her latest work at Nashville’s famous Grand Ole Opry.
The fifth annual The Opry Goes Pink concert, raising awareness for breast cancer, also featured performances from Lorrie Morgan, Pam Tillis and Amy Grant, among others.
LeAnn was elated to be a part of the charity event, revealing she’d been affected personally by the disease as many of her loved ones have suffered with it.
“Just as a woman, it’s super important to support other women with something that we could possibly go through,” LeAnn said.
“I’ve had many friends who’ve had it – my husband Eddie’s mom had it at one point. So tonight’s a good night to celebrate those who are here who have survived and pay honour to those who have passed away.”
