Radcliffe: I can’t be shocked

Daniel Radcliffe

Danielle Radcliffe thinks he’s “unshockable”.

The 24-year-old actor has moved on from the child-friendly Harry Potter franchise to filming racy scenes, most recently in John Krokidas drama Kill Your Darlings.

But the star isn’t bothered by stripping down on camera, and credits his role in the 2007 West End production Equus with steeling him for gritty performances.

“I suppose when you do Equus when you’re 17 it does make you very kind of unshockable, when it comes to all this performing sex scenes – gay or straight. The first one I ever did was with a horse,” Daniel explained to Sharp magazine.

Daniel also spoke about his filmmaking ambitions in previously released quotes from the interview.

The former Harry Potter star revealed he wants to work behind-the-scenes and hopes to one day call himself a director.

“I don’t have the attention span to write a novel. I want to write scripts. Ultimately, I want to direct,” he explained.

He also has a not-so-secret goal of sharing the screen with an action star. There’s one in particular who’s already caught his eye.

“It is one of my secret ambitions now to do a movie with Dwayne Johnson. Wouldn’t that be amazing?” the actor asked.

Daniel’s comments come shortly after the star bemoaned big budget productions.

Speaking to Teen Vogue last month, the actor said he appreciates the craftiness that comes with shooting smaller films.

“There a lot fewer people on set with indies. But films are always chaos. Everyone assumes because Potter had time and money, it was really efficient. Not the case at all,” he explained.

“The more time and money you have, the more you will probably waste. Time and money give you the luxury of not having to make a decision right away. With smaller films, the decisions have to get made. They have no money and time so you actually end up with great momentum on set and you film really quickly.”
