Rachel McAdams had to be reminded her latest movie wasn’t actually real.
The Mean Girls actress stars in About Time, a romantic film about time travel.
It’s a flick that tugs at the heartstrings and Rachel sometimes finds it hard to separate fiction from reality.
“Bill Nighy, he just makes my heart swell,” she gushed to MTV News about her co-star.
“There’s this scene where I had to, you know he’s sick, and I had to give him a hug and it’s kind of like maybe the last time we see him. I was crying that whole day. I could not stop every time I went to hug him.
“And then he’d have to remind me like, ‘I’m not actually dying,’ I was like, ‘I know, but it’s just so sad.’”
The 34-year-old has starred in several touching movies, such as her memorable performance alongside Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling in The Notebook.
She hopes her work will make people think more about what really matters in life.
“You come out of [director Richard Curtis’] movies and you want to call your mom and tell her you love her,” she smiled.
“I think he’s a master at making people feel and making their hearts open and want to be nicer to the people in their life. I think his movies are really powerful that way.”
