Britain’s Prince Charles “wishes he had grandchildren earlier”.
The heir to the throne recently celebrated his 65th birthday at Buckingham Palace with a dinner hosted by London socialites Cyrus and Priya Vandrevala.
During the extravagant party Charles – whose special day was on November 14 – is said to have gushed to guests about his grandson Prince George, whose parents are Charles’ son Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.
“[He described] how he really enjoyed being a grandfather and how he wished he had grandchildren earlier. He said he was envious of his friends who already have many grandchildren,” a source told US newspaper New York Post’s Page Six.
Charles was joined by his wife the Duchess of Cornwall. There were also many American guests at the party, including US society doyennes Mercedes Bass, Lynn Wyatt and Judith Giuliani.
Two couples from Philadelphia, software entrepreneur Michael Sanchez and publicist wife Nancy Assuncao and Walt and Sue Buckley of Internet Capital Group, were told by Charles how much he loves the city after he visited in 2007.
“The Americans really get it right with how philanthropic they are,” he reportedly said.
While the prince’s grandson and his parents are nearby, Charles’ youngest son Harry is currently on a trek in the South Pole.
The adventure began in Antarctica last Friday and is in aid of Walking With The Wounded, which supports amputee soldiers.
Harry recently revealed his father is worried about the freezing cold walk.
“My father was a little bit concerned, I tried to keep him calm by saying the North Pole is the dangerous one as we are walking on a frozen ocean,” he revealed to Sky News. “As long as you look after yourself you should be OK.”
