Pattinson: I’m not manic-depressive

Robert Pattinson insists he’s not “a manic-depressive about to kill myself”.

The 28-year-old English actor rose to fame for his role as broody vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film franchise. And he’s noticed journalists have a tendency to make inaccurate comparisons between the character and his real-life persona.

“I did some interview a while ago, and it sounds like I’m a manic-depressive about to kill myself,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I’m like, ‘No I’m not!’

Money and fame came for Rob following the release of Twilight’s first installment in 2008. And while he insists he’s not depressed, he also says he’s not very interested in the material things he can gain from his status as one of Hollywood’s hottest young leading men.

Apparently his collection of 17 guitars is one of few financial indulgences.

“I buy nice guitars, and that’s about my only expense,” he shared.

In fact, the actor recently sold the Los Angeles home he purchased in 2011 for $6.27 million, explaining it was far too big for his modest needs.

“It was too big a house,” he said. “It was incredible, like Versailles. It was absolutely, completely crazy. It had this incredible garden, but you just stay in one room, anyway. I could basically live in a cell as long as I had a window,” he explained. “I have extremely simple desires. I don’t need anything. I don’t want anything at all.”
