Nina Dobrev says she was a victim of bullying.
The 24-year-old has won over TV audiences as the gorgeous star of Vampire Diaries.
But Nina insists she didn’t always feel beautiful and was teased about being “chunky” when she was a kid.
“I had a couple of awkward stages… I had a chunky face. I had a phase where I cut my hair like a boy,” she told E! News.
“Kids will find anything to pick on you for whether it’s true or not because it makes them feel better and bigger and it isn’t until you’re the victim that you realize that it’s not fun and it’s not cool… Until you learn, you can hurt a lot of people.”
Nina acknowledges she has moved on since being taunted.
And she credits her glam squad with making sure she now always looks her best.
“Now we have hair and makeup. I pay professionals. But you didn’t have professionals when you were grade three,” she mused.
Nina’s remarks come just weeks after the star’s reported split from Derek Hough.
The pair began seeing each other shortly after her break-up from Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder but Nina apparently decided to call it quits with the Dancing with the Stars professional in October after their busy schedules got in the way.
“They decided recently that the relationship had played itself out. The distance was too much to handle,” a source revealed to Us Weekly.
Nina did not comment on the alleged breakup.
