Naomi Watts snared Liev Schreiber by asking if he wanted “her digits”.
The two stars have been together since 2005 and have two sons, Sasha and Sammy. They actually met a few years before they started dating, but it was running into each other at the 2005 Met Gala in New York City which was the catalyst for their romance.
“It was a lot more ballsy than I would ever normally be. He got up to say he was leaving, and I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t.’ So I said something cheeky. ‘Don’t you want my digits?’ It made him laugh,” she recalled to Allure magazine. “He texted me saying, ‘Would you like to go for a drink right now?’ And I said, ‘No, I’ll meet you for breakfast tomorrow.'”
The couple both appeared in the 2006 movie The Painted Veil and Naomi admits she had a hand in getting Liev his role. She didn’t ask for him to be cast though, rather made it clear to him he should consider the part.
“I didn’t get him the role. Of course he got it for himself. He turned it down to begin with, and then I talked him into it… I really had to push him because I wanted to see him,” she admitted.
Naomi hit the headlines this year thanks to her portrayal of Britain’s late Princess of Wales in Diana. The film was widely panned by critics, but the 45-year-old star remains proud of the work she did for it.
Next year she will be seen in St. Vincent De Van Nuys, portraying a character which couldn’t be further from Diana.
“I play a woman who’s pregnant and pole dancing. I went to a strip club and saw these girls dancing. It’s very lazy, not like Scores or Las Vegas. It’s very low-rent,” she explained. “I’m going to my pole-dancing class… from princess to pole.”
