Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are reportedly “on a break”.
The pair met while filming their 2009 film The Last Song and announced their engagement last year.
However, after a troubling few months for the pair Miley unfollowed her fiancé on Twitter over the weekend and it is thought they are taking time out from their relationship.
“They’ve split for now,” an insider told RadarOnline.com. “Miley and Liam have a very tumultuous relationship and both are exhausted. It’s a complicated relationship. The wedding is on hold, for now. It’s not cancelled but it doesn’t look promising.”
This news comes after it was reported Liam wanted a “clean break” from his girlfriend following her raunchy MTV VMA performance with Robin Thicke. Miley, 20, wore a nude latex bikini as she danced sexily with the married singer during the award ceremony, causing the world to react with outrage.
“Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn’t exactly what he signed up for,” a source previously said. “Her VMA performance absolutely mortified him and he couldn’t be more embarrassed. He doesn’t really see anything sexy about what she did on stage. It’s pretty much over.”
Miley made another risqué move with the music video for her new song Wrecking Ball, which sees her swinging naked on the destructive tool. Speaking in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine the blonde star defended her decision to bare all and explained how being a child star on the Disney channel made her grow up quickly.
“I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid. So now I’m an adult and I’m acting like a kid,” she insisted.
She also addressed her pending wedding with Liam.
When asked in the interview, which was undertaken before the news of their split, about their big day she replied, “I definitely don’t have time to deal with a wedding right now. But I will at some point.”
