Michael Bay was attacked on the Transformers set today.

The director helmed the first three instalments of the popular franchise and is currently working on Transformers: Age of Extinction in Hong Kong.

According to Reuters, two brothers have been arrested on suspicion of blackmail and assault after they demanded money from the crew and then attacked the star.

Michael, 48, is said to have been injured on the right side of his face.

He was reportedly undeterred by the incident and decided to continue filming.

A Hong Kong newspaper claims three men caused a “huge disturbance” and speculated about the cause of the incident.

The publication believes the men could have been after disturbance fees, which the film paid to businesses in the area likely to be affected by its presence.

After the men demanded $12,900 a heated discussion followed and they apparently attacked the director and three police officers.

The third man is also said to have been arrested.

So far neither Michael nor the crew have commented.

The fourth Transformers movie stars Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz and is due for release in summer 2014.
