Mel B’s daughters can’t sing.
The former Spice Girl made the admission ahead of the new series of The Voice Kids Australia.
While Mel has sold over 80 million albums worldwide as part of the girl band, she thinks it’s unlikely her three children will pursue a music career of their own.
“My kids can’t sing,” Mel told the Daily Mail Australia. “If they were really good at singing I wouldn’t have a problem, but my kids can’t sing that well. They’ll sing [Disney's] Frozen but it’s not like, ‘Oh my God they’re incredible’ – they’re just being kids.”
Mel has three daughters, Phoenix Chi, 15, Angel Iris, seven, and two-year-old Madison. The talent show judge added that the girls have their own interests that are more important than singing.
“Right now my two-year-old Madison does everything my seven-year-old does – and my seven-year-old is into Barbies and princesses, while my 15-year-old is into basketball,” she explained.
Mel’s focus has also shifted away from her own singing career of late. As well as sitting on the panel of The Voice Kids Australia, alongside Delta Goodrem and brothers Joel and Benji Madden, she judges America’s Got Talent and was most recently announced as a new panel member on The X Factor UK.
“I love to work, I love to do the jobs and I don’t do anything unless I do it 100 per cent. I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t believe in it,” she said.
Her children have had a totally different childhood to Mel’s, which took place in Leeds, England. But the Wannabe singer isn’t worried about how all the travelling or being in the spotlight will affect them.
“They come on set with me a lot, they love watching the show,” she revealed.
