McGowan slams sexist Hollywood

Rose McGowan

Rose McGowan wants to eliminate women-bashing in Hollywood.

The actress will start directing her first feature film in a few months, an as-yet untitled comedy about female interaction in the entertainment world.

While the film will be funny, Rose says it will also expose how terribly women in Hollywood are treated.

“It’s a commentary on how women treat other women,” she told Fox News.

“Women don’t help other women in this industry; it sucks because men don’t help women either. I would love to change that somehow. That would be magical.”

Rose has been in the industry for over 22 years, and became known for her work both on TV and in movies.

The 40-year-old finds acting a lot more difficult than directing, because she feels less in control when she’s in front of the camera.

“I’m used to handling a lot. I run a tight ship. I find acting harder because I have no control in that,” Rose admitted. “I kept waiting for the panic attack to happen while directing, but it just didn’t… I like acting, but if I never act again, I’ll be okay.”

The Charmed star explained that directing gives her far more scope for creativity. According to Rose, acting isn’t really a challenge anymore.

“I’m a very secure person. I know I’m a good actress, I’m solid,” she said “But I think as a director, you can create a world rather than just be in a world. And who doesn’t want to create a world?”
