Rose McGowan likes to “kill people” on the small screen.
The 40-year-old actress plays suburban mother and hunter Josie Acosta in TV series Chosen, about a group of people selected to participate in a deadly game.
Rose admits she was attracted to the role because her character is so dark.
“I do like to kill people. I specialize in somebody who doesn’t f**k around,” she told Deadline.com.
“These guys have created that kind of role for me. I’ve shied away from television for a long time.”
The former Charmed star admitted she didn’t know exactly what she was getting into when she first read about the original series, greenlit for its third season last month.
But as soon as she delved into the story, there was no turning back.
“This is bad-a*s,” she remembers thinking of the writing.
“What I love is action and smart action, and they don’t always go hand-in-hand. It’s smart, not just grunting and pointing [a gun]. It’s cerebral – and then I get to kill people. That’s always a win for me.”
While Rose is enjoying a career resurgence, she’s also reveling in newlywed life.
The star married artist Davey Detail in October, three months after announcing their engagement.
The union marks Rose’s first marriage, and she’s made it clear Davey is the one for her.
“He’s magic,” she recently told Us Weekly. “He’s made me a better woman. And I’ve made him a better man.”
