Matthew McConaughey’s family has reportedly kept him from going “off the rails”.
The 44-year-old actor and his model wife Camila Alves have been together for eight years and married in 2012. Together they have sons Levi and Livingston and daughter Vida.
Matthew gushed about how he wants “another baby” with his spouse following his win at the Oscars earlier this month. Insiders report the star’s tight-knit family have kept him grounded and he can’t wait to have more kids.
“Matthew and Camila still act as if they’re in the ‘honeymoon’ phase. They’re known in the industry for being like ‘loved-up teenagers’ – they can barely keep their hands off each other,” a source told British magazine Closer.
“He said he’d like five children with Camila and admits their family life stopped him going off the rails in Hollywood. He loves the fact they live in Texas, away from all the drama.”
Matthew is known for his fun personality and he is said to channel his passion for life into activities with his children.
“Matthew is a big kid and that’s why he’s a great dad,” the source continued. “He loves going on adventurous hikes and creating scavenger hunts for his kids. He’s hands on.”
The handsome actor dramatically changed in appearance for his role as AIDS sufferer Ron Woodroof in Dallas Buyers Club. He dropped to a mere 131 lbs. and Camila is thought to have been close to making him stop working on the feature.
“There were times when Camila wanted him to pull out of the film – she was worried about the strain he was under, but she knew he was passionate about it, so she stood by him,” the source explained. “He adores her and says she’s the perfect wife and mom.”
