Mary-Kate Olsen has reportedly been shopping for engagement rings.
The actress-turned-fashion designer has been dating French banker Olivier Sarkozy for over 18 months. It seems the romance could be getting more serious, after Mary-Kate was apparently spotted browsing bands at an exclusive jewelry store in Los Angeles recently.
“Mary-Kate has been seen several times in the last three weeks checking out huge engagement rings at the Neil Lane store,” a source told New York Post’s Page Six. “She really likes cushion-cut diamonds, and all of the rings she has looked at are over five carats. She has narrowed it down, but still hasn’t made a final decision.”
The star was apparently happy to view rings without 44-year-old Olivier, who wasn’t present during her visits to the store.
It is believed 27-year-old Mary-Kate looked at a range of different platinum set rings on sale for over $100,000.
“I don’t think price was an issue,” the source explained.
Mary-Kate has not yet commented on the engagement rumors.
Earlier this year reports surfaced that Olivier, the brother of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, had purchased a 4,200sq ft New York City townhouse “love nest”.
It was also claimed that Olivier, who divorced Charlotte Bernard in 2011, was eager to tie the knot with Mary-Kate as soon as possible.
“[He] wants to lock her down for life,” a source told Us Weekly magazine. “He calls her ‘smart as a whip’ and says she’s mature for her age.”
