Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow have reportedly accepted that they are “fundamentally different people”.
The showbiz power couple decided to go their separate ways in March, after ten years of marriage. They have children Apple and Moses together.
Chris recently opened up to Radio 1 DJ Zane Low on the breakdown of his marriage in a candid chat, where he praised Gwyneth but also admitted to having his own issues that ultimately affected the relationship.
“People have no idea of what went down in the marriage. They have had a lot of counseling and done a lot of talking. But they will completely acknowledge that they are fundamentally different people,” an insider told British magazine Grazia.
Chris also touched on his deep rooted insecurities and how they played a part in the end of his marriage.
Despite outward appearances, Chris and Gwyneth are rumored to have had their fair share of fallings out over their decade-long union.
“Chris is very tough on himself and that can be hard to live with. There was a time a few years ago when there were a lot of fights. He and Gwyneth had a great life but it was like a he couldn’t quite see it and couldn’t quite commit to it,” the insider added.
“There were other issues that sparked off that and, ultimately, they ended up leading very different, very separate lives. They have both given each other their blessing to move on. I think they both want each other to find love and happiness.”
