Martha Stewart has been openly doubtful about Gwyneth Paltrow’s desire to be a lifestyle expert.
72-year-old Martha has made a career of being a lifestyle and cooking guru, and she has now pondered whether Gwyneth has the credentials to follow in her footsteps.
Expressing skepticism about the actress’s ambitions, Martha admitted she isn’t sure that Gwyneth has what it takes.
“I haven’t eaten at Gwyneth’s house, and I have never seen how she lives,” Martha told Bloomberg Television. “But, if she’s authentic, all the better – and I certainly hope she is. She really wants to be part of the lifestyle business.”
Martha’s own lifestyle empire covers everything from cooking and entertaining, to crafting and gardening.
And while she admits Gwyneth has potential and seems enthusiastic, Martha doesn’t quite endorse the GOOP brand.
“She’s a charming, pretty person who has a feeling for lifestyle. She wants to be a lifestyle arbiter – fine. Good. I think I started this whole category of lifestyle,” Martha declared.
Aside from the GOOP website, Gwyneth, 41, has a recent best-selling cookbook called It’s All Good.
Her Hollywood acting career has never slowed down either, and she’s currently starring in Thanks For Sharing.
“I wrote the book because I wanted a mini encyclopedia of gluten free, dairy free, sugar free recipes that were delicious and comforting,” Gwyneth previously told Dr. Frank Lipman.
“Food that is so good it would never cross your mind that you were cutting anything out, or being deprived of anything.”
