Lutz: Hercules was rough

Kellan Lutz

Kellan Lutz is “scarred” from his Hercules role.

The 28-year-old actor takes on the title character in Renny Harlin’s fantasy feature Legend of Hercules.

While he enjoyed playing the ancient Greek hero, Kellan admits learning to ride a horse left him with permanent markings.

“It got rough. It got really rough. There was some chafing,” he told E! News. “You’re bouncing up and down, you have to ride [the horse], so you really learn. So, my butt just got raw. I got some scars on it,” he admitted.

Despite dealing with the pain, Kellan couldn’t give up. To train correctly, he was forced to ride every day.

“.I had to be on the horse the next day, because the horse needs to learn that you are the rider, so you can never miss a day,” he explained. “So, I learned my lesson to listen to the experts and I will always do that from now on.”

In the end, it was all worth it. Kellan recently admitted taking on the role was like living out a fantasy.

“For me, [it was] living out the childhood dream,” he told the Examiner.

“When I was young, I didn’t become an actor until I was 18. I didn’t know you could act. I thought you had to, like, pay your way in.

“So for me, once I heard about the project, the little Kellan in me was like, ‘I can bring fantasy to real life!’ I mean, it’s been amazing to come true,” he said.

The Legend of Hercules is currently in theatres.
