Lindsay Lohan’s father “trusts her judgment”.
The actress’s estranged father, Michael Lohan has admitted that he is aware that his daughter is spending time with her troubled longtime friend Vikram Chatwal.
The hotelier, who was seen with Lindsay in New York on Tuesday, was arrested in April for possession of cocaine and recently completed a court-ordered rehab stint.
Despite Lindsay’s own struggle with addiction, her father insists his daughter is strong enough not to be led astray.
“I trust Lindsay’s judgment,” he told Radar Online.
“Lindsay vets everyone around her and I’ve spoken with Vikram, my son Michael has spoken to him and he’s not going to be involved with her and drugs anymore,” Michael said.
The 27-year-old Mean Girls star was recently released from a 90-day court-ordered rehab stint stemming from a 2012 car accident in which she was accused of lying to police.
Lindsay so far appears to be taking her sobriety seriously.
According to TMZ, the star cancelled a trip to Europe following her release from Cliffside Malibu on the advice of Oprah Winfrey.
The pair recently sat down for an interview in which Lindsay confessed to being an addict.
“[Alcohol], in the past, was a gateway to other things for me. I tried cocaine with alcohol,” she revealed.
“I never felt good the next day… it allowed me to drink more. It was a party thing. People would have it, and I’d do it.”
The star’s father is proud Lindsay is taking responsibility for her actions. He also says she’s removing the negative influences from her life.
“Lindsay isn’t letting all those people that enabled her to hang around anymore,” Michael explained. “She cut off old assistants and friends like Gavin and Patrick and is trying to stay sober without old friends around,” he said.
