Lindsay Lohan’s parents have apparently been banned from her TV show.
The actress is set to have her own reality series on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network next year. According to TMZ, producers on the project don’t want Michael and Dina Lohan involved and have made the decision to cut them out completely.
It has been reported they will not feature in a single episode of the series, and there won’t even be a reference to Dina’s recent arrest for driving under influence (DUI).
“Producers were struggling a few weeks back with the show’s direction… and after intense debate decided to not include the ‘Lohan family circus’,” writes the website.
Rather than including Lindsay’s feuding parents as a storyline, the show will instead focus on the 27-year-old’s “comeback and recovery” following her most recent stint in rehab.
The troubled star completed a court-ordered 90-day spell in a facility earlier this year stemming from a car accident in Santa Monica, California, last year. She has also previously been convicted of other crimes such as theft and probation violation.
Last week, Michael admitted he felt responsible for Lindsay’s personal issues and feared his divorce from Dina in 2007 had a big impact on her behavior.
“I think because of [mine and Dina's] divorce and what happened, Lindsay was put in a horrible position,” he said.
Oprah has previously spoken out about working with Lindsay while preparing to film the reality show. She has claimed it was a challenge to get the star organized and on schedule.
“There was a lot of chaos going on. So I went to have a conversation, a real conversation about that, to say to her, ‘Do you want to do it? Because if you don’t want to do it, that’s OK. We could just end it. We don’t have to do it,’” Oprah told Access Hollywood.
“I went to her house just to say, ‘What are you doing? Let’s get real here.’”
