Liam Hemsworth is considering staging an intervention for Jennifer Lawrence following her Oscar win.
The pair star as Gale Hawthorne and Katniss Everdeen respectively in The Hunger Games movies. Jennifer won the best actress Academy Award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook earlier this year and Liam jokes it totally changed her on set.
“I think an intervention will have to take place soon,” he deadpanned to British magazine Heat. “I tried to have it out with her but she just threw the Oscar at me, and it’s a heavy object. Sometimes she’ll wear it around her neck in the scene.”
Jennifer and Liam are promoting the second movie in the franchise, Catching Fire, at the moment. The actress has previously joked about how winning the golden statue altered her perception of work.
“I used it to create arguments on the set! After I got back I was like, ‘Things are going to be different around here.’ And I just carried the award around. Made sure nobody forgot,” she laughed.
Liam is proud to be involved with the movie adaptations of Suzanne Collins’ books. Many of the characters get to wear outlandish costumes, such as Effie Trinket, portrayed by Elizabeth Banks, and he can’t help wishing he got to branch out sartorially too.
“I feel an extreme source of jealousy. I wish that for one day I could be Effie and wear a dress and a wig!” he laughed.
